Beautiful historic bed and breakfast only a block away from downtown New Bern. Parking is stacked on the driveway to the right of the property, as well as 2 hour street parking during the week. We stayed in the Bruin room and it was beautifully furnished with a large en-suite full bath. Ian our innkeeper is wonderful, funny and an excellent chef. We stayed for four nights and had four incredibly delicious breakfasts. Ian is also a wealth of knowledge about things to do and sights we had to see. My husband and I enjoyed our stay to the point while we were still there discussing when we would be able to come back. Stayed here for two nights in May 2026, the stop was part of a road trip down the East coast. We booked the cottage at the rear of the hotel for it's laundry facilities and kitchen. Location was central, less that a ten minute walk to various restaurants / town centre. Cottage had a/c and was clean & well equipped, extremely comfortable bed and large walk in wardrobe / laundry room. No bath tub but a double + shower and his / hers basins. The website photos do not do full justice to the property. Ian, the Innkeeper, was extremely helpful with recommendations for restaurants etc and general local knowledge. He was also breakfast chef and produced some of the best breakfasts we had on our three week plus trip. Can thoroughly recommend the Jarvis at 220.

Our stay at The Jarvis was amazing! We stayed in the Jarvis suite and loved having the balcony looking out over New Bern. The whole place was perfectly clean and well maintained. Ian, the inn keeper, was extremely attentive and made sure we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. The breakfast was fantastic both mornings. Also, the basement area with the pool table, TVs, and bar was great for hanging out and watching sports. We cannot recommend The Jarvis enough, and we will definitely come back again!

We just got back from a fabulous stay at The Jarvis for our anniversary.  We are so glad we chose to come to New Bern, and we are so thankful we picked the Jarvis for our stay. The home itself is gorgeous!  From the moment you walk in to the beautiful lobby, you know you've picked the right place.  We stayed in the Jarvis Suite, which was beautifully decorated, cozy while being very spacious and had an amazing deck for relaxing and enjoying the sights and sounds of downtown New Bern.  The location also can't be beat!  We loved being able to walk everywhere so quickly--from the waterfront to downtown to the Farmer's Market.  It was a treat to just walk and not have to drive anywhere.  Ian, the innkeeper, was amazing!  So personable, full of useful New Bern recommendations and he makes some delicious food.  Both breakfasts that we enjoyed during our stay were absolutely delicious.  I would 100% recommend the Jarvis and hope to return in the future.

I really wish I could give more than 5 stars- The Jarvis was second to none! The experience here truly made my wedding weekend!! Ian was so kind and went above and beyond to make everything so special from a light breakfast made extra early on my wedding day- to offering extra large umbrellas so my dress wouldn't get ruined in the rain. You just can't get that kind of hospitality staying in a hotel. I would 1000% recommend the home, or the adorable cottage for a weekend getaway, anniversary trip, wedding weekend or really anytime- thank you again for everything!!
