Meet Bret and Brandi Strickland, the proprietors of The Jarvis at 220.
Both Bret and Brandi have a passion and love for quaint towns and old houses. It was love at first sight for both of them when they laid eyes on The Jarvis at 220.
Married for almost 20 years, Bret has worked as an insurance executive for over 25 years and Brandi worked in sales and marketing before making the choice to stay at home and raise their 3 small boys. Both received degrees in Marketing from ECU and Campbell. Phipps, their oldest, loves cars and great conversations, John Wyatt art and skateboarding, and Lochlan, their youngest, dressing up in costumes and Star Wars.
While on a day trip to New Bern enjoying the beautiful downtown and taking in a ghost tour, they came across the Jarvis. Brandi said to Bret, “Wow, now that’s a beautiful home. I’d love to own a house like that.” Bret responded by asking, “Are there any homes for sale in New Bern?” And well…the rest is history. They immediately found the property listing for The Jarvis and their dream became a reality.
Bret and Brandi are so grateful to the previous proprietors, Denise and Michael, for all the hard work and passion they put into creating such a marvel from the past, bringing a piece of New Bern history back to life.
Historic New Bern rests where the Neuse and Trent rivers converge, 2 hours east of Raleigh and 30 minutes from the North Carolina coast.
